Investment readiness

Investment readiness is a term used to describe an organisation which is in a position to credibly present a business proposal to different investors and meet their requirements. In asset transfer and development projects this will also include making a case to the current owner of the asset that the transfer (particularly if it is at a discounted value) is going into “safe hands”.

Although the focus of investment readiness is often the proposal and the business plan that has been prepared for it – how profitable it is likely to be either in financial terms or in terms of social impact – it increasingly covers a range of tests that relate to how well an organisation looking for investment is run. This may include governance (to both the governing body and other stakeholders), internal processes and procedures (finance and administration), and track record.
