Energy Buying Group

What is the DTA Wales Energy Buying Group?

The DTA Wales Energy Buying Group is a money saving partnership between Locality and Touchstone Services.

This Group was piloted in Wales where it has been a huge success, saving DTA members a significant amount of money on energy bills.

DTA Wales is now working with other organisations across the UK to develop and expand upon this success so that any social enterprise or community organisation can save money, use less energy and significantly improve their carbon footprint.

Who can benefit from this Energy Buying Group?

Anyone with a large gas or electric bill who wishes to save money on their energy costs is encouraged to submit a no obligation application.

Examples include:

  • Community Buildings
  • Housing Associations
  • Businesses
  • Care homes
  • Local authority buildings
  • Hotels and guest houses
  • Factories and warehouses
  • Commercial premises
  • Retail outlets

How does it work?

Based on the principle of bulk buying, as a group of organisations we amalgamate our energy consumption with a single contract end date so we can negotiate lower prices for our energy consumption.

The more organisations that join up, the more buying power we have and so the cheaper the energy costs.

Why get involved?

With escalating energy costs and predictions of 40% increase over the next 5 – 10 years any saving will make a difference to your cash flow.
Savings of around 15% are typical for clients and when linked to a progressive energy
saving/reduction campaign savings of 20 – 25% can be achieved.

Progress so Far

The DTA Wales Energy Buying Group has already met its initial target of reaching 15million kWh and is well on its way to achieving its goal of accumulating 50million kWh by September.
DTA Wales Energy Buying Group has been receiving positive feedback on how it has not only saved members and non-members money on their energy bills, but also simplified
the administration process by bringing all energy contracts to an end on one date September 30th.
